The Peace River Winter Swim Club was founded in 1995 in Peace River, Alberta. The club began after the construction of the Peace Regional Pool in 1989, the first indoor pool built in the region. The club, previously known as the Peace River Steamers Swim Club, was rebranded to the Peace River Wahoos Swim Club in 2012.
